PAUL VERNON CHESTER

Manouche Maestro

Django and Art

After a Swiss tour with Michel de Villers he took up painting to make up for the lack of regular work.

"Don't talk to me about music!
At the moment I'm painting..............................." Django

Django's 'Canvases'

At the same time, he discovers a new passion which brings him more into contact with his brother Joseph, fellow musician Roger Chaput, and his friend Amédée Pianfetti: painting, and particularly landscapes and – very uncommon for a Rom – nudes.
The painting of landscapes arises from his love of nature. His interest is aroused to such an extent that some visitors find his guitar covered with a thick layer of dust, and journalist are laconically told not to talk about music, as he was painting.
But he always continued to play, e.g. the piano for a change

Curious setting - an erotic road to nowhere or an inspired eiderdown landscape with a curious Sunset.

Brother Joseph

Joseph apparently still lived the nomadic existence of his forebears and enjoyed nature at first hand, he showed this love for nature in various paintings of caravan scenes, campfires, horses etc..
